The Vale of Evesham is renowned for its plums, which we grow here and sell in our farm shop. Since Sara and David moved here in 2007, they have increased the number of apple and pear trees in the orchards, whilst sustaining traditional varieties that would never be found in the supermarket, such as Lord Lambourne an English classic, and a favourite apple with the locals.
Worcestershire's famous Blossom Trail route passes right by our door, and we are doing our bit for this by maintaining our traditional orchards, which elsewhere are a diminishing feature of the landscape. Our customers regularly admire the stunning blossom here at Ellenden.
The fruit season is a highlight of our calendar when we have an abundance of plums in August; Victoria, Swan and Greengages, people make special visits for our plums alone, only to find all the other delicious fare we have to offer. In the Autumn we traditionally hold Apple Day which is a celebration of the apple harvest to make our cider and apple juice, and use this as an opportunity to educate children about food and provenance, see more about this on the website tab Community Events.
Here at Ellenden we are very proud of our roots in the Vale of Evesham, in more ways than one!
